When the weather got cold last week, the Bexar County Sheriff was turning up the heat on gang members.
1200 WOAI news reports a Gang Member Round Up resulted in the cuffs being slapped on 46 known gang members, cutting holes in the Mexican Mafia, the Latin Kings, the Bloods, and the Tango Orejon, which is the largest street gang in Texas.
Gang members were arrested on charges ranging from burglar to assault to theft, but the most common offense was drug violations.
"Gang activity is directly responsible for much of the violent crime in Bexar County," the sheriff's office said. "This effort should send a message to the community and to wanted gang members that the Bexar County Sheriff's Office will not give4 up on its responsibility to take those documented gang members with criminal charges off the streets.
