Welcome to the neighborhood.

A convicted sex offender who was recently paroled from prison and had taken up residence in a southwest side is hospitalized today after he was assaulted inside his home, 1200 WOAI news reports.

Police say two men burst into the house in the 1600 block of West Pyron, which is near Zarzamora and West Southcross, about 1AM this morning and viciously beat the man.

Before they left, the suspects snatched the guy's TV set and some cash.

The 50 year old victim suffered a broken arm and other injuries, but his wounds are not believed to be life threatening.

Officials aren't certain whether the attack was related to the man's status as a sex offender, but the addresses of convicted registered sex offenders are readily available on several web sites, and some neighborhoods put out notices when a convicted sex offender has moved into the area.
