A Bexar County Sheriff's Deputy is hospitalized in critical condition after her car was rear ended after she had stopped on Interstate 35 to help a motorist who was involved in a previous collision.
1200 WOAI news reports the deputy was driving to work in her private vehicle about 10:30 Sunday night when she came upon an accident at I-35 and Weidner, and saw that a Mustang had been rear ended.
The deputy got out to investigate, and after she got back into her car to call in details of the wreck, a Ford Excursion SUV slammed into the rear of her parked vehicle, knocking it 45 feet down the road.
The Deputy was rushed to San Antonio Military Medical Center in critical condition.
The driver of the SUV was arrested for drunk driving, and the felony of Intoxication Assault.
