San Antonio's 41 miles of linear parks are popular places for bike riders and dog walkers, but new numbers out today show they are also a hot spot for perverts.

In 2012, there were 42 cases of Indecent Exposure.  In 2013, that number jumped to 45.

"We have to keep our eye on that because it's something that makes people feel unsafe in our parks," San Antonio Police Chief William McManus tells 1200 WOAI news.

The parks system is growing.  Next year there will be 51 miles of linear parks, and McManus says they are looking at ways to step up patrols.  He told City Council members they are looking at enlisting the help of park stewards and possibly putting undercover officers on bikes.

"We're looking at a variety of ways to increase visibility, both law enforcement and non law enforcement in parks," he explains.

He admits, it's not an easy task.  There are a little more than 230 parks in San Antonio, and we're also home to thousands of registered sex offenders.
