It was a rough ride for several Via bus passengers on the city's south side early this morning, 1200 WOAI's Michael Main reports.

Police Sergeant Shane Nagy says around 1AM, a Via bus driver, for an unknown reason, ran a red light at Pleasanton Road and Southwest Military, and slammed into three cars.

"It is apparent that the Via bus driver ran a red light," Nagy told 1200 WOAI news.

He says one vehicle than slammed into the bus.

"He was unable to avoid the Via bus that ran the light," he said.  "He collided into the Via bus, and the Via bus then collided into two more vehicles."

Those two cars were shoved into the base of a traffic signal.

There was only one passenger on the bus, who suffered minor injuries.  Six people in the three cars were hospitalized, but none of them have injuries which are believed to be life threatening.

Still no word on why all this happened, or what prompted the bus driver to run the light.
