No charges are expected to be filed after a Bexar County Detention Officer shot and wounded a man who was breaking into his south side home late last night, 1200 WOAI news reports.

Police say the assailant, a man in his twenties, actually called the officer, warning that he was 'coming over.'

The assailant made good on his threat.  Police say the man jumped over the fence at the guard's home in the 200 block of East Gerald and smashed a window in the man's home.

That’s when the man pulled a gun and fired once, striking the assailant in the upper chest.

He was rushed to SAAMC in critical condition.

Investigators say the two men clearly knew each other, but they're not sure if the assailant had been in the county jail, or how the two men came to be acquainted, or why there was bad blood between them.

Police stress that the incident remains under investigation.
