If you liked Friday morning, forecasters say you’ll love tomorrow morning and especially Wednesday morning, because ‘Son of Ice Storm’ is heading our way.

The National Weather Service says the gusty winds this afternoon and evening will blow much colder weather, and rain, freezing rain, and sleet into the area by tonight.

“The chance for wintry precipitation will then spread south, affecting most areas along and east of the Interstate 35 corridor on Tuesday,” the advisory states.  “The main concern with this weather event will be during the late night through morning hours as a wintry mix of freezing rain, sleet, and snow may result in light ice accumulations on bridges and overpasses.”

The forecast says the ice will melt during the afternoon on Tuesday, but temperatures will fall Tuesday night, and the frozen moisture could make conditions difficult Wednesday morning.

The system will move out of the area on Wednesday, as temperatures return to the forties, and back into the sixties by Thursday and Friday.
