Would-Be Burglar Shot Dead

Would-Be Burglar Shot Dead
Posted Sunday, October 13th 2013 @ 7am  by Jim Forsyth

Two alert neighbors, ably aided by Mr. Smith and Mr. Wesson, stopped a would-be burglar in his tracks this morning.

1200 WOAI's Morgan Montalvo says police were called about 3AM to the 100 block of Beatrice, which is located off Pleasanton Road on the city's south side.

When they arrived they found a man dead in the front yard of a home.

Detectives say two neighbors heard the sound of breaking glass at the house, grabbed their licensed firearms, and responded.

After a confrontation with the wanna-be burglar, as many as 10 to 15 shots were fired.  The burglar was dead at the scene.

Officers are still trying to sort it out, and there is no word yet whether the burglar was armed, and if so, whether he attacked or fired any shots at the neighbors.

But police say for now, this appears to be a 'justified' shooting.
