A Bexar County Deputy Constable is hospitalized after he was run over by a car driven by a 96 year old man, Newsradio 1200 WOAI reports.

Police say Constable Brian Boyce was directing traffic at a construction site on DeZavala Rd.

A white Chevy Caprice traveling westbound on DeZavala failed to stop at Boyce's command and knocked him down with his car.

Police say the Caprice failed to stop, and witnesses followed the vehicle to a nearby home.

Officers went to the home and took the elderly driver to the police station for questioning.. He said he did not remember the accident, and when he saw somebody trying to flag him down, his foot slipped off the brake onto the accelerator and he simply drove in.

Alcohol was not a factor and the wreck remains under investigation.

Boyce is being treated for broken bones and facial lacerations.
