Democrats: Perry a 'Scandal Plagued Bully'

Democrats are making it crystal clear today that they plan to hang Governor Perry's abuse of office indictments around his neck every time he leaves Texas, Newsradio 1200 WOAI reports.

Perry is in New Hampshire today to speak to that state's Republican Party, and New Hampshire Democratic State Rep. Kathi Rogers was quick to pounce.

"As a former prosecutor and county attorney, I am very troubled at how quickly the New Hampshire GOP has rushed to his defense and opened their arms to welcome him to the Granite State, considering the serious nature of this indictment," Rogers told Newsradio 1200 WOAI.

Rogers and other Democrats who spoke with Newsradio 1200 WOAI on this used words like 'discredited' and 'troubled' to describe Perry.

"I guess I shouldn't be very surprised," Rogers said.  "The New Hampshire GOP has lifted up scandal plagued bullies for years."

Perry has an aggressive schedule of out of state speaking engagements in the coming week, including in states with early primaries in the 2016 election, like New Hampshire and South Carolina.

Jerry Polinard, a political analyst at U.T. Pan American, says for Perry's aggressive fight agaisnt his indictments to work, it is imperative that he dispense with the criminal charges quickly, preferably without a trial.

"The last thing the governor wants is a trial, even if he were to be found not guilty," Polinard said.  "He already is the only potential Republican presidential candidate who has a mug shot."
