World Golf Hall of Famer Phil Mickelson today committed to playing in next weeks' Valero Texas Open, 1200 WOAI news reports.
"Phil brings another level of excitement when he enters a tournament and we are grateful that he has decided to join us next week," said Valero Texas Open Executive Director Larson Segerdahl.
Mickelson last played in the Valero Texas Open in 1992. He is a five time major champion, and the winner of last year's British Open in Scotland. Mickelson has won four PGA Tour events in the state of Texas.
Along with Tiger Woods, Mickelson is one of the best known golfers in the world.
"The fans in the San Antonio area will have a chance to see one of the great players in the world compete against a tremendous field of PGA TOUR players," Segerdahl said. "Without question, this will be a memorable week."
The Valero Texas Open will be played at the TPC San Antonio, at the TPC Marriott Resort just east of Highway 281 on the far north side.
