The San Antonio Metro Area reached a milestone in March.  For the first time ever, more than one million people are employed in the eight county region, pushing the metro unemployment rate down to 5.0%, 1200 WOAI news reports.


  The Texas Workforce Commission says 23,000 jobs were created in the region in the past year, more than 7,000 created in the last month, to push the region's total employment to 1,002,300.


  The number of people listed as unemployed in the region is down 10,000 in the past year, with the other 13,000 news jobs taken by newcomers.


  Professional and Business Services, Manufacturing, and, of course, the Eagle Ford Shale contributed the most new jobs in the past month, officials said.
