A several hour standoff ended peacefully this morning on the city's south side, 1200 WOAI news reports.

SAPD Spokeswoman Sandy Gutierrez tells 1200 WOAI news that about 10PM, police were called to the domestic dispute with shots fired in the 200 block of East Hart, which is just off South Flores Street.

"We immediately responded to the location, we called out our negotiators and SWAT officers as well," Gutierrez said.

She says a man was holding a woman hostage inside the home, and police started getting nervous when they hear what appeared to be shots fired.

"A little after 1 this morning the woman was able to make it out safe and sound," Gutierrez said.  "She did not have any gunshot wounds."

She says the woman had suffered bruising injuries, and had clearly been held against her will.

Police continued their effort to get the man out of the home, and around 4AM, the man walked out without incident.

No word yet on what charges he will face.
