Time is ticking away for Ramiro Hernandez-LLanas, the 44 year old Mexican citizen is set to die tomorrow night for the murder of a Baylor University professor on his ranch in Kerrville back in 1997.
A jury took less than a half hour to convict Hernandez-Llanas in the murder of
Glen Lich and the assault of Lich's wife in their bedroom.
The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles ruled that a controversy over the lethal injection drugs used by the state will not be a barrier to the execution. Tommy Lynn Sells, who murdered Mary Bea Perez during Fiesta in 1999, was executed with the drug last week without incident.
The board rejected a request by lawyers for Hernandez-Llanas to commute his sentence to life in prison. Hernandez-Llanas was also convicted of a murder in his hometown of Nuevo Laredo.
