It isn't just Spurs fans who are hoping for a long and successful run in the NBA Playoffs.
The San Antonio tourism industry says all the attention to the Spurs as first rate citizens, the Spurs organization, and all of the national TV shots of the city during Fiesta are invaluable promotional tools for selling San Antonio to tourists and conventions.
Along with the game coverage, the telecast has gorgeous shots of sites all around the city, the Riverwalk, the Alamo, and sites like that," said Richard Oliver of the San Antonio Convention and Visitors Bureau. "It is the most invaluable billboard for a city that is on the rise."
And Oliver says the 'no drama' Spurs players, hailing from all over the world, are a wonderful message to people in Europe and Latin America about San Antonio's diversity and openness.
"When you think about last year's NBA Finals, it drew about 300 foreign based media to San Antonio," he said.
Since the first two home games of the playoffs this week will take place during Fiesta, that is an added benefit, because fans can see excitement in the city's downtown, and people having run.
"Talk about the economic impact of the NBA playoffs, it represents a huge triumph for San Antonio in generating invaluable exposure."
All of the Spurs' playoff games are on Spursradio 1200 WOAI, with Sunday's broadcast starting at 11AM.
