Two people have died in two separate overnight stabbings, 1200 WOAI news reports.

The first happened at Myrtle and North Comal just north of downtown, where police got a report of several men fighting in the street.

When they arrived they found a man dead.  They questioned the dead man's son, who told them he was protecting his father, who was being assaulted by the dead man.

Police are still investigating whether charges should be filed.

Several hours later, police were called to the 'Deco-B' HEB store at Fredericksburg and West Avenue for a report of a stabbing there.

Two men had been arguing in a car in the parking lot of the store.  One of the men jumped out of the car and drove away, while the other man staggered up to a store security guard and told them he had been stabbed in the chest.

The security guard called 911, and an ambulance rushed the victim to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

  The suspect remains at large.
