Cowboys' Bryant: No contract talks during season

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) Dez Bryant figures he has about a week left to work out a contract extension with the Dallas Cowboys because he doesn't want negotiations going on during the season.

The fifth-year receiver is entering the final year of his rookie contract after teammate Tyron Smith, drafted a year later, recently got an eight-year extension that pushed the value of his deal to more than $100 million.

Bryant has a base salary of $1.8 million in 2014, and the average of the highest-paid receivers is around $12 million.

The 25-year-old Bryant, among the league's most productive wideouts the past two seasons, said he wants to shut down talks before the Sept. 7 opener against San Francisco because he "can't be distracted."
