Knicks Trade Carmelo To Thunder

Carmelo Anthony

New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony is going to Oklahoma City.  The Knicks agreed to send the 10-time All Star to the Thunder on Saturday for center Enes Kanter, forward Doug McDermott, and a 2018 second-round pick.  The 33-year-old Anthony is waiving his no-trade clause and an 8.1-million dollar trade kicker to facilitate the deal.  He'll join forces with reigning NBA MVP Russell Westbrook, plus All-Star forward Paul George.  Anthony reportedly would have only waived his no-trade clause for the Thunder, Cavaliers or Rockets.  He has two years and 54-million dollars left on his current deal, but can opt out next summer.  Both Westbrook and George can also become free agents after this season.  Anthony averaged 22.4 points and 5.9 rebounds in his final campaign with the Knicks.  He joined New York in a mid-season trade from the Nuggets in 2011.
