Warriors' Durant Undergoes Surgery For Ruptured Achilles

2019 NBA Finals - Game Five

Golden State Warriors All-Star forward Kevin Durant is recovering from surgery for a ruptured Achilles. Durant made the announcement on Instagram, saying surgery was a success. The news comes after Durant reportedly flew to New York for an MRI on Tuesday to determine the severity of the injury he suffered in Monday's Game Five win in Toronto. It was his first game action since injuring his calf on May 8th during the West semifinals against the Rockets. Durant, who earned NBA Finals MVP honors each of the last two years, was trying to return to help the Warriors three-peat as champions. Golden State trails Toronto 3-2 going into Thursday night's Game Six in Oakland.
