Verlander Throws Two-Hitter, But Loses 2-1 To Tigers

Astros ace Justin Verlander threw a complete-game, two-hitter, struck out 11 and walked none, but lost 2-1 to the Tigers in Houston. John Hicks led off the ninth inning with a solo homer to put Detroit ahead. Ronny Rodriguez homered in the fifth for the Tigers' first run. Robinson Chirinos went 4-for-4, including a solo homer to tie the game for Houston in the seventh. Buck Farmer got the win and Joe Jimenez his fourth save as Detroit stopped a four-game slide. George Springer had the other two hits for Houston, which had won three straight.
