Alvarez Unanimous Pick For American League Rookie of the Year

Astros designated hitter Yordan Alvarez was the unanimous choice for the American League Rookie of the Year. He was called up on June 9th and hit .313 with 27 home runs, 53 extra-base hits and 78 RBIs in 87 games. He received all 30 first-place votes in the Baseball Writers' Association of America balloting. Alvarez becomes the 11th player to win the AL rookie trophy by a unanimous vote and joins Hall of Famer Jeff Bagwell in 1991 and Carlos Correa in 2015 as Astros to win the award.
