The Memphis Grizzlies have officially signed Quinten Post to a three-year, $30 million contract after the Golden State Warriors chose not to match the offer by Tuesday night (July 7). The 26-year-old center, originally from Amsterdam, becomes a key addition to the Grizzlies' roster as they rebuild following the trades of Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Desmond Bane.

Post, who was the 52nd overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, played 109 games for the Warriors, averaging 7.7 points and 4 rebounds last season. He was a restricted free agent, meaning the Warriors had the right to match any offer he received. However, the Grizzlies structured their offer with only the first year guaranteed at $9 million, and included incentives that made it difficult for the Warriors to match due to their salary cap constraints.

According to Golden State of Mind, the Warriors had already committed significant resources to veteran centers Kristaps Porziņģis and Al Horford, making it unlikely they would match Memphis' offer. The Grizzlies, on the other hand, are adding Post to a new front court that includes Cameron Boozer and Zach Edey.

Post's departure from Golden State marks the first time since 2020 that a restricted free agent with an offer sheet of at least $5 million was not retained by his original team, according to NBA.com.

The Grizzlies are optimistic about Post's ability to contribute to their team, as he has shown potential as a stretch big man, shooting 36.4% on 3-pointers during his career. The Warriors' decision not to match the offer reflects their focus on maintaining financial flexibility while integrating their recent signings and re-signings.
