Baylor women's basketball coach Kim Mulkey was emotional in a public apology today. Responding to questions about her complaints regarding negative reactions to the university’s sexual assault scandal, Mulkey expressed regret over her choice of words last weekend.
Mulkey previously addressed Baylor fans, declaring that if another person tells them they will never send their daughters to Baylor, they should “knock them right in the face.”
Revisiting those comments, Mulkey said today,
"I'm sorry for the choice of words. The timing wasn't good, poor analogy maybe as well, but those of you who know me, I'm an emotional person. I coach with emotion. I played with emotion. And it was an emotional moment. I guess you’d say it got the best of me, because I love this place. You know, awful things happened here guys. We failed victims here. But I’m encouraged every day because I see what’s taking place to fix it. A lot of bad things happened here, but I've always thought about the victims."
