Five planets will be in a rare alignment and visible on Friday morning June 24th about 30-45 minutes before sunrise.
Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn will be aligned in this specific order for the first time since December 2004. Even more amazing is the fact that these planets are aligning in their natural order from the Sun, making this must-see phenomenon all the more rare.
The waning, crescent Moon will be part of the alignment, appearing in between Venus and Mars.
Sunrise in the San Antonio area will be at 6:35am on Friday, so it will be a good idea to start your stargazing a little before 6am.
Of course, we'll be talking about this celestial event and everything else happening in your world on San Antonio's First News from 5-9am with Charlie Parker, Tim Merryman, Brian Gann (in for Charity McCurdy), Soundscape Stylist Jeremy Kolak, National News Correspondents and yours truly.
