Rob Parker: “The basketball Gods, they cheated us of what could have been a fantastic redemption story for Kyrie Irving. He’s been through all kinds of stuff. He’s the guy who we’ve seen hit one of the greatest shots, the one that capped the 3-1 comeback against the Warriors. He’s also just a tremendous ball handler, finisher at the rim, all of that. When he’s health, one of the best guys you want to watch play basketball, period.”
Kelvin Washington: “Being in Cleveland all those years when they weren’t good...it got weird in Boston where he was really good, but the team wasn’t feeling him and it wasn’t meshing, personalities were clashing. The Big 3 happens in Brooklyn, that didn’t work...there was always something with Kyrie that holds it back from him just being his best self, but in Dallas he has seemed to become a refined version of himself on and off the court.”
On this edition of The Odd Couple with Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington, Rob & Kelvin gave their thoughts on the devastating news that Kyrie Irving will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL. The guys lament losing the talent he has on the floor, but also continuing to see his growth off the court.
