As San Antonio FC nears completion of their 2019 roster, one thing is for certain. 2019 will be the year of change. As SAFC grows closer to kickoff on season number four, no single season has seen as much player turnover as the 2019 version of the squad. As one example of the depths of the changes we've seen - the entire back line will be completely new as no Defenders are returning to the team.
To date, only seven players have returned to San Antonio FC from last season.
The latest player to join that ever growing list of departures- former starting GK Diego Restrepo. To add salt in the wound for SAFC fans, he has moved up the road to USL Championship newcomers Austin Bold FC. It wasn't enough that Austin has claimed what could have been San Antonio's spot in MLS - now they have our former USL GK of the Year as well. Restrepo took to Twitter with the news:
Restrepo will join former SAFC teammates Kris Tyrpak and Sonny Guadarrama in Austin. That should make for an exciting rivalry and add some extra flair when the teams meet for the first time on March 30th in Austin.
