San Antonio Missions Visitor Center & Store Reopens

If you grew up on the Southside of San Antonio the San Antonio Missions mean so much to you. Most of us associate community, religion, and history when we think of this national treasure we have in our back yard. Of the countless events and festivals I've attended throughout my life at the San Antonio Missions, I think the one that stands out the most was a poetry competition that I won when I was in kindergarten. So glad to see that they still host educational and literacy events for San Antonio youth today. In recent years the big Dia de los Muertos event attracts visitors from all over the world in October. Personally, I can't wait to get back to those beautiful cultural celebrations soon!

While the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park has been a lifeline for many locals throughout the pandemic because it is the ideal setting for social distancing, however the store and visitor center had been closed for some time. We're happy to announce that as of this week the store is now open inside the visitor center! Check out this latest episode of SATX Life as we share some history and progress on the Southside of San Antonio. We catch up with Colleen Swain, the Director of the City of San Antonio World Heritage Office to speak to the UNESCO recognition and the economic impact to our city. If you have time make your trek down to the beautiful national treasure just south of downtown San Antonio.
