Popovich Voted Best Coach By NBA GMs

Spurs Coach Gregg Popovich

The NBA is out with it's annual survey of league general managers. The GMs responded to 50 different questions about the best teams, players, coaches, fans, and offseason moves. General managers were not permitted to vote for their own team or personnel.

In the category of "Best Coach," 57% of the general managers said it was Spurs' Gregg Popovich. Miami's Erik Spoelstra was second with 17% of the vote, Milwaukee's Mike Budenholzer was third with 10 percent of the vote and Golden State's Steve Kerr was fourth with 7%. Popovich was also named the best "manager/motivator" of people, picking up 41% of the vote. The Clippers Doc Rivers was second in this category with 31% and Steve Kerr third with 17%.

In the category of who "makes the best in-game adjustments," Rick Carlisle of Dallas was named the best with 28% of the general managers' votes. Brad Stevens of Boston picked up 17%, Gregg Popovich of the Spurs and Quin Snyder of Utah both received 10%.

The general managers were also asked which team is most likely to "win the 2020 NBA Finals" and 46% said it would be the Los Angeles Clippers. 36% said it would be the Milwaukee Bucks and 11% said it would be the Los Angeles Lakers. Last year, 87% said it would be the Golden State Warriors.
