Texas Rangers' Injury Problems

Ronald Guzman's first career start was cut short Monday. The first baseman was playing left field when he suffered an apparent right knee injury after chasing a first-inning pop fly. Guzman twisted his body to avoid colliding with shortstop Isiah Kiner-Falefa. The Rangers shortstop made the catch and Guzman lowered himself to the ground before being carted off the field. Texas is likely to activate outfielder Adolis Garcia from the taxi squad if Guzman is placed on the injured list.

Questions in the Rangers bullpen continue to build. After four weeks of soreness from a partial tear in his right elbow ligament, right-hander Jonathan Hernandez underwent Tommy John surgery on Monday, just days after expected closer Jose Leclerc underwent the procedure on April 1st. Both Hernandez and Leclerc are expected to be out for the year. Matt Bush is also expected to be out for 12 weeks following a diagnoses of a right flexor muscle strain.
