The Mavericks are moving another step closer to avoiding the NBA play-in tournament with a 125-107 win over the Pelicans. Luke Doncic scored 33 points and Kristaps Porzingis added 19 in his return from injury in a win that eliminated New Orleans from playoff contention and keeps Dallas on track to finish in the top six of the Western Conference. The Mavs are currently tied with Portland at number-five but the Trail Blazers hold the tiebreaker. Dallas can clinch at least the sixth seed in the West with a win in either of its last two regular-season games. The Mavs first chance to clinch comes on Friday against already-eliminated Toronto.
