Texas Advances To CFP Semis After Topping Arizona State In Double OT

Texas is heading to the Cotton Bowl for the College Football Playoff. The Number-5 Longhorns survived a double-overtime scare and took down fourth-ranked Arizona State 39-31 at the Peach Bowl from Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Quinn Ewers connected with Gunnar Helm on a 25-yard touchdown pass for the game-winning score. The Texas quarterback finished with 322 passing yards, four total touchdowns and a pick. Matthew Golden exploded for 149 yards on seven catches as the Longhorns will play eighth-ranked Ohio State in the CFP Semifinal round. Sam Leavitt threw for 222 yards and one interception. Cam Skattebo rumbled for 143 rushing yards to go with a pair of scores and also tossed a 42-yard touchdown pass. The Sun Devils finished the season 11-and-3.
